It's important that we understand this important term as more than just a "trend."
What is Accessibility?
From Oxford Languages, "Accessibility" is the quality of:
1. being able to be reached or entered.
2. being easy to obtain or use.
3. being easily understood or appreciated.
What about in the context of disability rights?
Accessibility is the degree to which a product, device, service, environment, or facility is usable by as many people as possible, including by persons with disabilities. (Source: Indiana University)
Accessibility is a civil right and is federal law.
Disability rights are civil rights. From voting to parking, The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a law that protects people with disabilities in many areas of public life. (Source: ADA.gov)
How can I make my work more accessible?
Achieving accessibility requires knowledge of accessibility standards, being aware of the needs of people with disabilities, and addressing barriers to access for individuals with disabilities. (Source: Indiana University)
