The Recap in 4
1. Artist playing cards
We created artist trading cards, miniature pieces of art that are traded between artists around the world. We used mixed media including collage, drawing, painting, and writing. At the end of class we traded our cards!
2. Guest Artist: Eyerys Spearyt Ember
Eyerys joined us to discuss their artistic process, which they describe as “cosmic, therapeutic, and an expression of my raw emotions in the moment.”
They guided us in an activity called “Coloring Outside the Lines”, where we combined coloring book pages with collage materials and approached coloring abstractly.
Check out Eyerys' work on Instagram at @ufpho and @divinefemmascandro.
3. Skills & Activities
We discussed Surrealism, an artistic movement with the goal of releasing creative ideas from the unconscious mind. We looked at the work of Raleigh-based Anna Podris and NYC-based Manzel Bowman.
4. Supply Drive
THANK YOU to everyone who donated after the call for supplies. We are stocked for the next few months! Everyone who contributed is expanding the work BAC can do.

2 things I’m doing
TJ and I worked on 3 pieces that have been accepted into the Uproar Festival of Public Art and Bi Women Quarterly’s Summer 2023 Issue: Bi+ History. The focus of our pieces is LGBTQ+ existence and resistance and they are collectively called “You Can Not Intimidate Us Out Of Existence”.
Uproar is a new arts festival in Orange County, NC, from July 14 – August 12, 2023. 60 bold outdoor works of art will be showcased downtown in Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Hillsborough. Cash prizes are awarded based on public voting and a jury panel of experts.
Bi Women Quarterly is a grassroots publication originally produced by the Boston Bisexual Women’s Network and now an independent project. BWQ has been in continuous publication since 1983, and is the oldest bisexual+ women’s publication in the world, with a global readership.
I was accepted on a full scholarship to the John C. Campbell Folk School for a week-long residential class on Mixed Media this fall. This is a huge opportunity for me and I am extremely grateful.
