Bad Art Company: Your Questions Answered
Dive into all that Bad Art Company does and discover upcoming opportunities!
Here are some of the most frequently asked questions - and their answers!
How did Bad Art Company begin?
I started making art regularly after a mental health crisis in 2017 as a part of my healing process. I don’t have an art degree and had no formal training in art, but it felt good to create so I kept doing it. I allowed myself to be “bad” at art and did it for the mental health benefits. Using my degrees and skills in communications and education, I began teaching and facilitating art with groups and individuals. Now I work as a creative entrepreneur, educator, and artist.
Why do you call it “bad art”?
Bad art for me is about no expectations, not being beholden to the fine art world’s standards, and continuing the legacy of surreal art, southern folk art, art brut, dada, DIY art, and outsider art. There is a long established history of these types of process-based, intuitive art.
Where can I take Bad Art Co. classes?

How community art projects does BAC do?
Community art projects are planned and led by BAC facilitators. They involve community members in the creation stage and are supervised by BAC facilitators.
Community members will learn the skills needed to complete aspects of the project and learn information about the background behind the project. Community members do not need any experience in art-making to participate, only a willingness to try. The projects are finalized by BAC.
A few examples of past community art projects are
